CANDLEWICKS: Traditions continue ... during this month's meeting of the James River CEOS Club. "What is Candlewicking" is instructed by Donna Rodvelt at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at her home. Those attending also plan to discuss the club's Christmas dinner. Call 304-562-2799.
PREACH IT: Allow me to do a bit of preaching today -- Evangelist Billy Graham turns 91 today. What a blessing this evangelist has been to many, many individuals through the years. Here's hoping this fine man of God enjoys this special day as he has helped to make others' special.
29: That's the actual age for the spaghetti dinner sponsored by Our Lady of Fatima Parish School PTO. In fact, it's such a well-received tradition that more than 3,000 plates were served last year. This year's 29th annual event is from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the school, 535 Norway Ave. Tickets are $8 and $5 children age 12 and younger. Take-out orders are available. A bake sale, raffle items and book fair are also conducted. Susan Subik is chair and PTO vice president. Call 304-523-2861.
FAIR: Sunrise Church of the Nazarene of South Point, Ohio, sponsors a free health fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Free medical screenings are provided by St. Mary's Medical Center. Children's fingerprinting is by Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and other agencies provide information on child and senior adult services. Door prizes and refreshments are also available. MILITARY: Ryan B. Gearheart graduated from Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. The cadet, a student at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., is son of Kathy S. Gearheart of Ashland, Ky.
FUNDRAISER: Wayne County Advisory Board for Hospice of Huntington/Wayne County sponsors a country crafts and bean dinner from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Wayne High School. Tickets are $5 and $2.50 children age 6 and younger. Take-outs available. Call 304-272-3500.

The cost is $4. CHUCKLE: The new bride spent two hours preparing her first breakfast. She sat at the table, eagerly watching her husband slowly savor each forkful. "How was it, honey?" she asked when he finished. "Well," he began thoughtfully, wiping his lips, "you probably could have beaten the eggshells a little longer. But on the whole, it was a good start."
