Association celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Motor Truck Association is planning special T-shirts for truck drivers as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week through Nov. 7.

The T-shirts bear the slogan, "You See It. We Hauled It," to remind people that the vast majority of goods used by state residents and businesses are brought to West Virginia by truck.

According to a press release from the association, the state has more than 8,940 trucking companies, most of them are small, locally owned businesses. In 2008, the trucking industry in West Virginia provided 45,451 jobs, and truck drivers accounted for over 17,950 of those jobs.
